The Elements Are Here!
Tundrai is very excited to announce the breeding of our Element Litter! It is between our gorgeous cream girl, Bucolick Thuvia of Ptarth 'Ghost', and our handsome homebred boy from our first litter, Tundrai Arctic Bear 'Arctos'. On the 27th of May, 2024, 2 cream boys, a cream girl and a black and tan girl were whelped drama-free and have been growing healthily and well ever since.
This is our first time using a stud at home and we are beyond excited to see what our lovely boy can produce.

About Ghost and Arctos
Ghost is very sweet and cuddly - she's somewhat of a heart dog for me and my husband. She was a fairly easy puppy, quite biddable and for lappie standards is quite calm. She blends into most households with ease and is a very welcoming girl to everyone. She never barked (unusual for the breed) until she had a litter, now she will be a slight watch dog in the yard but it is rare. She is not lazy and very happy to work - she just has a very good off switch. We have done less training and sports overall with her as we were doing a big state move and dealing with some health issues but hope to start to do more with her in the near future after her motherly duties.
Ghost has had a litter already for her breeder and so far the puppies took after her calm, cuddly temperament for the most part. We kept one of her sons, Calcifer - he is a little more independent than she is but still a very sweet boy and been a relatively easy puppy to raise.
Structurally she is well put together, has a beautiful head, typical dark oval eyes and soft feminine expression. If I were to be picky, she could have a little less slope in her croup, a slightly higher tail set and a slightly wider ear set, but overall I am very happy with her for a cream girl.

She is 45.5cm at the withers, so just above typical height for a girl (44cm +/- 3cm) and weighs 15kg. Her lines are mostly Finnish, from several big show kennels (Lecibsin, Lumiturpa, Peikkovuoren) as well as a few personal smaller favourites (Pakkasukon, Terhakan, Dagolas) and is overall of fairly healthy lineage for most major issues in lappies (very few cases of epilepsy, heart disease, autoimmune disease, diabetes etc). The highest risk would probably be cataracts in her line, but they seem later developing (8-9 years old+) and no cases for a couple of generations now that I am aware of.

Arctos is higher drive, but also very sweet and cuddly. He is loud but usually only barks when very excited, otherwise quiet as a mouse. He is quick to fire into drive and would have made a great working dog on the tundra. He has also convinced me upon spending the last few months with him directly that he literally wouldn't hurt a fly - there isn't a bad bone in his body. He is just full of love.
He has his off switches, but has been vocal of late with our girls cycling through their seasons (our younger girl just finished and Ghost is due to come in at any time from now). His dad and aunty were bred by Jacq (her Diamond litter - Lumi and Squiggle/Veikko), and several half siblings (Lumi kids from Caleebra and Varulv) excel in dog sports and are some of the top titled lappies in Australia.
He does need more mental stimulation than my other lappies but is perfectly happy with a thirty-minute walk and 10 minutes of training a day, along with some free play with his besties. He excelled at obedience and agility training. Tracking training was his favourite when we had access to a trainer, and he is my best at it.
He is structurally a strong boy with a big boofy masculine head. He takes heavily after his dad, but has some features of his mother still. I was aiming to add leg and bone/substance to her with that combination and boy it did! His ears could be smaller, but they are very thick, correctly triangular and wide at the base, set apart and very well coated. He has fantastic coat quality I hope to see in his children. He is about 52cm, at the top of the standard for boys (49cm +/- 3cm). He sits at 17.5kg. His sister is a more regular size, at 44.5cm. He could also do with a higher tail set, but overall I am happy with my waggy man. His lines have some stellar favourites of mine, including the lovely Fidelis Duuri (Usko), Lecibsin Kultakuono (Ressi), Lumiturpa Emmi (Emmi). The line is fairly free from epilepsy, a disease which seems to be creeping up on the breed, as well as from cataracts, although there have been some cases of Addison's disease and kidney related issues in cousins, in lines that we have been careful not to heavily linebreed in this combination.

We're hoping for some activity levels ranging in between the two of them, but they should be fairly active, cuddly sweet puppies overall, with a lovely blend of features of their parents!
