The Parents

Oscar is a very sweet import male owned by Aamurusko Finnish Lappphunds. I had the pleasure of meeting him myself in December of 2024 and was immediately impressed with his breed type and gentle disposition. He has developed into a lovely young dog and we are very thankful to Aamurusko for agreeing to let him become a part of our breeding program through this litter.

Oscar has a good off switch, is gentle, sweet, not boisterous and he loves his pack mates.

Structurally, he is an average-sized boy with a compact body and nice angulation and decent bone. He has a lovely masculine head with strong, dark pigment for a domino boy, nicely set ears as well as sweet typical dark oval eyes for the breed. He also has correct, coarse and waterproof coat. He has an endearing expression. He is about average for height and weight for a boy.

His lines have some stellar favourites of mine, including a line breeding of one of my favourite all time lappies, Terhakan Jallat. He also hosts Terhakan Ilmavaiva, Lapinlumon Addja, and Terhakan Vilttihattu, which are several more favourites of mine. The line is fairly free from epilepsy for many surrounding related generations, a disease which seems to be creeping up on the breed, as well as from Addison's disease.

​Lumi is a very sweet and gentle girl from our Call litter. Her owners have her and her half sister Keva in the Central Coast. She was retained in co-ownership, and upon relocating near Sydney her fabulous owners reached out and queried if we would like to carry out a litter with Lumi before she is desexed. I was very thankful and keen for the idea, as she is the last remaining Kiita descendant intact for me to be able to continue her line with, and so I told them that if they were up for it and wanted a litter to go ahead, I would be very happy to have a litter with her before she is neutered. When she has visited me, she has been nothing but sweet, approving, calm and loving, and really enheartens the term 'docile' mentioned in the breed standard. She apparently can become a bit vocal at times at home, but she is a lappie after all.

​Structurally she is put together okay. She is a little long in loin, and could have better rear angulation, but has a beautiful front, tail set, very sweet typical eyes for the breed and a soft feminine expression. She has received the gift of her mother's seasonal weather-bound coat, and often will keep a sparser coat during the summer months.

She is a taller girl, around 46cm at the withers, so just above typical height for a girl (44cm +/- 3cm) and weighs 15-16kg. Her lines are mostly Finnish, from several big show kennels (Peikkovuoren, Lecibsin, Lumiturpa, Peikkovuoren) as well as a few personal smaller favourites (Viksalan, Dagolas) and is overall of fairly healthy lineage for most major issues in lappies (very few cases of heart disease, autoimmune disease, diabetes etc). The highest risk would probably be late onset cataracts in her line, but they seem later developing (8-9 years old+) and no cases for at least 3 generations now that I am aware of. Her lines are around average risk for the breed for epilepsy and autoimmune disease, and as such both the mating resulting in herself and this current combination have been risk-assessed and sires chosen accordingly to reduce risk.  Her mother Kiita has no descendants (24 total) with epilepsy or autoimmune disease.​

We're hoping for more sweet, gentle, cuddly babies ready for anything, with a lovely blend of features of their parents!
